Frequently asked questions

How personalized is the book, exactly?
The illustrations already exist: we're not painting an original portrait of your child. You choose the character in our gallery who looks most like them (hair, hairstyle, skin tone), and their first name runs through the whole story. It won't be a perfect likeness, but it will feel like theirs, and you can see the entire book before paying a cent.
How is the book personalized?
Your child's first name appears in the story and on the cover. You choose their look from ten already-illustrated characters (hair, hairstyle, skin tone). For some titles, the birth date and place also make it into the text. Finally, you add a dedication, printed on the first page.
Why can you show the whole book for free?
Because it costs us nothing to show it to you: the illustrations already exist and the text is composed in a fraction of a second. So we have no reason to hide half of it just to make you pay first.
What age is it for?
Titles in the Newborn collection are meant to be read aloud from birth to age 3: short sentences, one image per spread, a slow pace. They read beautifully over a crib, before a baby understands the words.
What formats, and at what price?

Do I need to send photos?
Not for the illustrated stories: nothing to upload, nothing to store. If you would rather see your child's own face in the illustrations, that is our photo line: 1 to 4 photos, an art style you choose, the story and first illustrations free to preview, then your approval on every page before printing. Photos are used only for that book and deleted within 30 days after delivery.
How does the photo line work, and what does it cost?
You choose a story, tell us who it's for, and add 1 to 4 photos with the face clearly visible. Within a few minutes the whole story and the first illustrations appear on screen, free. If you like it, you pick a format: PDF $19.99, softcover 8 × 8 in $39.99, hardcover 8 × 8 in $49.99, large hardcover 11 × 11 in $79.99, shipping included. After payment the remaining pages are illustrated, you review each one (three corrections included after you order), and nothing goes to print without your approval.
